The IMSTA MEDTECH AWARDS were held on 27 September in Ireland. These awards recognise the most innovative medical technology companies in Ireland.

The winner of this edition was "Johnson & Johnson” for its product Embotrap, a mechanical thrombectomy device. The award for the most innovative SME was given to Hospital Services Limited, for its NISO Biomed Endofaster equipment which analyses gastric juices in real time.

In addition, eHealth and the Royal Belfast Hospital both received the healthcare innovation award for their use of virtual reality MRI.

The Most Cost-Effective Product or Service Award was given to Syncrophi Systems for its KEWS 300 system and VideoDoc for its online doctor platform.

This year’s special guest was Dr Eve Bruce, a burns specialist and currently the medical coordinator of the Al Mowasa Reconstructive Surgery Hospital in Amman, Jordan. Dr Eve Bruce is an experienced member of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) and has completed assignments in some of the most challenging areas where MSF operates, including Afghanistan and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Her stories and experiences from the front line were an inspiration to all the healthcare professionals who attended the event.
