Thora-Vent: The solution for pneumothorax

Thora-Vent is a closed, self-adhesive, compact, portable system with a self-contained vent for the treatment of spontaneous, traumatic or simple iatrogenic pneumothorax.

Thoravent

Thora-Vent consists of:

  1. Soft, flexible, kink-resistant, radiopaque polyurethane catheter that reduces the risk of damage to the lung when re-expanded.
  2. A self-container of absorbent material inside that absorbs 10-15 c.c. of cumulative fluid. This includes:
  • A diaphragm in line with the catheter, with a red signal indicating the trocar entry into the pleural cavity, to prevent the risk of damaging the lung.

When the trocar penetrates the pleural space, the diaphragm rises, indicating a positive pressure and, when it deflates, it indicates a negative pressure.

  • A one-way valve to prevent air reflux.
  • A hydrophobic filter to keep the system closed to the outside.
  1. An aspiration cannula with a dual valve for cases where immediate air removal is required.
  2. A suction tube to connect to a suction system. This includes:
  • A hydrophobic filter to keep the system closed to the outside.

* Self-ventilation allows complete patient ambulation during resolution.

* All components required for immediate insertion and evacuation are contained in the procedure tray.
